So the decision was taken, that why let the general public and financial markets wait almost another day to hear the result. They may as well announce it as soon as the board meeting's over. "Hence the 2:30pm AEDT announcement time." Tags: economic-trends, finance-markets, business-regulation, federal-government, australia .
Calcium rich, budget-wise foods to build bones
If you're bemoaning the high price of milk, we've got a surprise: It's still the best deal in town when it comes to calcium. Even at $4 a gallon, milk costs just 25 cents for an 8-ounce serving, and an 8-ounce glass delivers 30 percent of the Daily Value for calcium plus 25 percent of the DV for vitamin D, as well as other important nutrients."I had always heard that [milk was the cheapest way to get calcium], but had never done the math," says registered dietitian Georgia Kostas, founder and former director of the department of nutrition at the Cooper Clinic. But it makes sense, she says: The more food is processed – into cheese, for example, and shredded after that – the more it costs. Milk prices started rising sharply in 2004, according to U.S.
Bill Conlin: Evidently, Clemens is in a pile of trouble
USED SYRINGES and bloody gauze typically make headlines only after washing up at the Jersey Shore. Beaches are closed while environmentalists and Chamber of Commerce types correctly hyperventilate. It never occurred to me that anybody would hang on to used syringes, empty vials that once contained various steroids and bloody gauze wipes. Let alone hang on to them for what could be as long as 7 to 8 years. But that is what Brian McNamee told a congressional committee in a deposition. In a startling TV show-and-tell yesterday at 5:37 p.m., McNamee's attorneys rolled out enough photos of grungy-looking medical waste after their appearance before a congressional committee to shut down Asbury Park for a month. There was even a crumpled beer can in which McNamee supposedly stored needles used to inject Roger Clemens and others.

Atlanta Music Scene
Two days later the Grammy Awards sent out a press release saying it would announce the nominees for the 50th annual ceremony Dec. 6, and that Akon will be among the presenters. (Presenters are usually nominees as well - so that should make at least one hometown act to cheer for). Thanksgiving night his local imprint Konvict Music had a big signing party planned for its new artist, guitarist/bassist Tony Love, at Lotus Lounge. And the news on Billboard magazine's site today is that Konvict's singer-rapper-producer extraordinaire, T-Pain, has - count them - four singles in the top 10 of its Hots 100 chart. According to the publication, that's the highest number of simultaneous top 10 hits for any artist since hip-hop mogul 50 Cent did it in April 2005. What is it about Akon and T-Pain? Their distinct voices - (or in T-Pain's case, vocoder)? Gifts for melody? Or are you completely baffled by their appeal? Permalink | Comments (1) | Ne-Yo Explains His Exit From R.

I’m Just Sayin’: Are you a social drinker?
We have our share of teetotalers, alcoholics and everything in between that relates to using alcohol here in Southwest Florida. A survey about alcohol usage probably would show that 99 percent of people who drink are merely “social drinkers." One percent would have no opinion or could not remember. While chatting with friends about how we all probably drink more or at least more often than our parents and grandparents did, I wondered what being a “social drinker" means. Most people probably would say a social drinker is anyone who drinks about the same amount he or she does. It's like asking what being “middle aged" means. I think of middle age as about 10 years older than I am, although that definition increasingly strains credulity. Back to drinking — Let's face it.

TRI-K Rolls Out 30 Scented Extracts
TRI-K Industries announced the introduction of TRI-K Scented Extracts, a full line of all natural, aromatic ingredients for cosmetic and personal care products. TRI-K Scented Extracts are touted as high-quality, natural extracts that meet formulators’ needs for natural fragrancing and odor masking. In a Freedonia report, "Flavors & Fragrances to 2009," it is predicted that flavor and fragrance demand in the U.S. will reach $4.6 billion by 2009, with gains being supported by the need to mask unappealing odors in active ingredients. This coupled with today’s increasing consumer demand for more natural products makes TRI-K Scented Extracts a perfect alternative to traditional synthetic fragrances, according to the company. "These all natural extracts provide excellent natural aromas and varying functionality," said John Carratura, senior technical information specialist at TRI-K.
